Daguerrotypes-

The daguerrotype was the first publicly available process for photography and used a mirror like surface to print a negative onto. The mirror was often treated silver plated copper exposed to fumes that made it sensitive to light, expose it to the negative for a certain amount of time, then coat it with mercury vapor and wash away the light sensitive chemicals, covering it with a protective glass.

Carbon and Carbro-

Carbon and Carbro photography uses paper treated in various chemicals to print an image from a negative. The process of making the paper is extremely complicated and takes a long time to complete, but produces images that capture shading very well. Creating the paper involves using chemicals to make the paper react in a specific way to light that includes a 10% gelatin solution, carbon black, Grumbacher Thio Violet, and sugar, and involves many steps and careful mixing to create a solution that will react well.
