Summer
Over the summer I took a trip to Sunriver and Christmas Valley, where we spent the days hiking and cycling. My favorite place that I went was Fort Rock, a large bubble of basalt that used to be an island in a giant ice age lake. Climbing to the top gave you a view of the whole lake bed below and the towns that surrounded Fort Rock. While in the area, we also went to Crack in the Ground, a large lava tube that had collapsed. It ran for miles and got as deep as 70 feet in some places. The air at the bottom of the ravine was significantly cooler than the air outside.
